Alhambra Hospital Medical Center recently named Truven Health 100 Top Hospital recognition for 2016!

As a recipient of the 2016 Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals® award, Alhambra Hospital Medical Center ranks highly among nearly 3,000 acute care hospitals nationwide, and is in the national top 20 for organizations their size. It is the only hospital in the San Gabriel Valley to achieve this distinction for 2016.

Using independent, quantitative research, the Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals study identifies hospitals and leadership teams that provide the highest level of value to their communities, based on a national balanced scorecard. The scorecard measures overall organizational performance across 11 key analytic measures that encompass patient safety, quality of patient care, operational efficiency, financial stability and patient perception of care. Research shows that patients at Truven Health 100 Top Hospitals have: better survival rates, fewer complications, better long-term outcomes, shorter hospital stays, and superior overall hospital experiences.

"The 2016 100 Top Hospitals award winners represent the highest national standards in hospital care and management. They set the benchmarks for peers around the country to follow," said Thomas Eggars, Account Executive, Truven Health Analytics™. "Hospitals in three out of the five report groups actually reduced overall expense year over year, while improving patient outcomes — exactly the results that the entire industry hopes to attain."

"We are extremely proud of this accomplishment. Our physicians, nurses, and support staff at Alhambra Hospital Medical Center work very hard every day to provide the best and safest care possible for our patients. Receiving national recognition serves as a validation of the extraordinary efforts we see each day at our hospital," Iris Lai, CEO of the hospital, noted. "To further improve our service, our next step will be working on establishing the Patient and Family Advisory Council which we can engage patient and families to be the partnership of the patient care and to enhance care coordination."

"As a community hospital, AHMC is extremely proud to receive this award. Our mission at AHMC is to provide the highest quality medical care to our community each and every day," stated John Stewart, MD, Chairman of the Governing Board of Alhambra Hospital Medical Center.

"On behalf of the medical staff of Alhambra Hospital Medical Center, I can say we are happy to see that our hard work and dedication to patient care is being recognized. We have spent a lot of time and effort in developing clinical protocols and processes to ensure that prompt, quality care is offered to our patients," said David Gu, DO, Chief of Staff of Alhambra Hospital Medical Center.

Alhambra Hospital Medical Center, a 144-bed, fully accredited general acute care hospital with 24 hour emergency care, is dedicated to providing the highest quality, personalized and safe medical care to the community. Alhambra Hospital Medical Center is an affiliated facility with AHMC Health System. "It is the vision of our system to strive to be the National Leader in Quality Care and Clinical Outcome," said Dr. Wen Ta Chiu, co-CEO of AHMC Health System. "We are proud to have one of our affiliated hospitals being honored as Nation's Top 100 Hospitals. We will continue to provide the best and safest care to the community we serve."

To conduct the 100 Top Hospitals study, Truven Health researchers evaluated close to 3,000 short-term, acute-care, nonfederal hospitals. 100 Top Hospitals researchers use risk-adjusted methodologies to analyze public information - Medicare cost reports, Medicare Provider Analysis and Review (MEDPAR) data, and core measures and patient satisfaction data from the CMS Hospital Compare reports. Hospitals do not apply, and winners do not pay, to market this honor.

The winning hospitals were announced in the February 28, 2016, edition of Modern Healthcare magazine.
